Stress Reduction During Fresh Water Treatments
Bathing salmon in freshwater is a commercially important tool for the control of various diseases including Sea Lice and Amoebic gill disease (AGD).
These treatment operations are well known to be stressful to the fish which in turn causes significant quality issues during and post-treatment. A recent study conducted in Norway has further highlighted exactly how stressful these procedures are in terms of cortisol release.
